The Exel project involved many of the abilities of Excel. I use Excel reguarly, but only in a limited fashion. At work, we use Excel for our time sheets as well as calculating hours worked for an overtime list. My use of Excel has been rather narrow. This project has taught me how to use Excel in new ways.
There are coworkers that make up their own Excel files for various uses. Some times guys will email out an Excel file that they have created. Some of the files that others have created are payroll calculators and need based training schedules. The funny thing is that there are a couple of guys that will create these files now and again, and everyone kind of considers them the "go to" guys for Excel.
The Excel project has taught me that I am more than capable of creating Excel files for not only my own uses, but also for the use of others collectively. I understand how to take information from an existing file and create a new sheet. This would be helpful in picking and choosing information in an Excel file and condensing it into a new sheet for a particular situation. Pivot tables seem to be perfect for focusing in on data to get a better picture of what I really need to know.

One of the students in our class created a file that serves as not only a schedule for the class, but also as a grade tracker. I could take the information in the file and possibly create a new sheet for something of my own use. It would be interesting to create a new column with grades which could show points needed to attain the next letter grade. I could also have another sheet which could show my total G.P.A., and how this class is affecting my total G.P.A.
