Week 13, “computer security, ethics, and privacy “ was an informative week. I always read about viruses, worms, Trojan horses, and other forms of mischievous behavior on the internet. I, like most, always grouped them all together and called them viruses collectively. The differences between them are fairly obvious. These differences can help determine possible causes of computer issues and help to combat them and prevent future “infestations.”
Using encryption and backing up files can help to prevent unauthorized security breakdowns and loss of important information. This lesson prompted me to go out and buy an external hard drive to back up important files. I purchased a Seagate 1 TB external hard drive. I don’t know if I could possibly ever use up that much space, but there was a sale on the item, so I said, “what the heck!” I will eventually purchase another, as well, so I can achieve the redundancy of having multiple backups.
