Week 14 kind of went hand in hand with week 13. It was kind of a spin off of how to prepare for possible losses due to viruses. This week also went into other data loss issues such as hard drive failure. This lesson was extremely muddy for me. Several of the concepts were new to me, and I felt it was information that went a little too deep for a computer class that is already covering an enormous amount of material in such a short time.
Some of the information was right on cue for me, as far as hard drive failure goes. My laptop has been having some issues with the hard drive. Upon start-up, it was performing Check Disk and hanging up at around 2%. A friend told me that I needed to let it finish to repair any bad sectors, etc. I let it go for two days, and it did not advance any further than the 2%. I used my disk restore to restore the computer to how it was out of the box. It does not automatically do a Check Disk on start-up any longer, but if I initiate one, it still hangs up. I have since ordered a replacement hard drive and will install it when it arrives.
